S'mores: American Most Favorite Campfire Treat

No one knows for sure who invented the s’more. Rumor has it that the first recipe was published in 1920s and this treat became popular with the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts.

So, what is s’more?

This is a traditional camping snack made of roasted marshmallows, chocolate and crackers.

It is hardly a healthy treat but who cares. Difficult to resist this sweet and gooey “sandwich” and as a result you always want some more. Ant this is probably how this outdoor dessert got its name – s’more, as in “some more”.

Many Americans believe that no campout is complete without this treat. Nowadays there are many alternative fillings to fit many tastes. Besides key ingredients – marshmallows, chocolate and crackers – peanut butter, jams and caramel are added.

In case you do not have access to campfire to toast marshmallows over the coals, you can always make it in your kitchen over the open fire, in the oven or microwave.

Our America House Team loves s’mores and when camping out together we usually make it. Below we prepared a short video recipe for you to see how it is easy and fun to make.

Enjoy and have some more of the s’more!
